NFR Apprentice Recruitment 2026: Apply for 6,777 Railway Apprentice Posts – No Written Exam, Check Eligibility and Last Date
The North East Frontier Railway (NFR) has released an official notification inviting online applications for 6,777 Act Apprentice training posts for the 2025-26 and 2026-27 training sessions. This is an excellent opportunity for 10th pass and ITI-qualified candidates who wish to start their career with the Indian Railways.
The recruitment offers apprenticeship training in various railway divisions and workshops located in Assam, West Bengal, and Bihar. One of the major highlights of this recruitment is that there is no written examination or interview. Candidates will be selected purely on the basis of merit prepared from their academic qualifications.

Educational Qualification
Candidates applying for the apprenticeship should meet the following qualifications:
- Must have passed Class 10 (Matriculation) or an equivalent examination from a recognized board with at least 50% aggregate marks.
- Must possess a valid ITI Certificate in the relevant trade issued by NCVT or SCVT.
For the Medical Laboratory Technician (Pathology/Radiology) trade, candidates should have passed Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB) along with the prescribed minimum marks.
The minimum percentage requirement in Class 10 is generally not applicable to eligible SC, ST, and PwBD candidates as per the notification.
Age Limit
As on August 19, 2026, applicants should be:
- Minimum Age: 15 years
- Maximum Age: 24 years
Age relaxation is available as per Government rules:
- SC/ST – 5 years
- OBC – 3 years
- PwBD and Ex-Servicemen – Up to 10 years (as applicable)
Application Fee
- General/OBC/EWS (Male): ₹100
- SC/ST/PwBD/Female Candidates: No Application Fee

Monthly Stipend
Selected apprentices will receive a monthly stipend according to the Apprenticeship Rules:
- First Year – ₹9,600 per month
- Second Year (where applicable) – ₹10,560 per month
- Third Year (where applicable) – ₹11,040 per month
Please note that accommodation or hostel facilities are generally not provided, and candidates must make their own living arrangements during the training period.
Selection Process
The selection process is completely merit-based. There will be:
- No Written Examination
- No Interview
A merit list will be prepared based on the marks obtained in Class 10 and the relevant ITI qualification. Shortlisted candidates will be called for document verification and medical examination as per the recruitment rules.
